Okay, it is the month of December, holiday season! I love this time of year, but for the standard visitation order in Texas, it creates a mess. Let’s see if we can decipher it.
First and foremost, you can always check prior year’s posts for a given month. While the dates have changed, the general ideas are the same. December can be found here at december and standard visitation. Notes on holidays and the standard possession order can be found under standard possession order de-mystified – holiday possessions. Please poke around in the blog as there is more than just what you searched for.
The weekend visits begin this weekend which is the 1st Friday of the month. Remember that the weekend possessions are measured by Friday under a Texas standard possession order.
The next normal standard visitation weekend would be the third Friday of the month (which is Dec. 21st). However, for most children, that will be when they are dismissed from school for the Christmas vacation. This is the non-custodial parent’s Christmas as they did not get Thanksgiving, so they will get the child from the time they are dismissed from school on the 21st until December 28th at noon (this is under the new standard possession order). If you have an old standard possession order, it will end on the 26th at noon. READ YOUR ORDER.
The custodial parent this year will have from December 28th at noon (or 26th under old standard possession orders) until the child resumes school.
Thursday visits this month (or Wednesdays under old orders) will be the 6th and 13th (5th and 12th). All other other Wednesdays or Thursdays will be swallowed up by Christmas.
I think this should just about wrap up the standard visitation order for December 2012! Have a Merry Christmas!
