December 2014 and your Standard Visitation Order in Texas

Okay, I’m a little late to the party on this post, but better late than never!

Your weekend visits this month under the Texas standard possession order are pretty much over. Under standard visitation you would have had the weekend of December 5th which was the first weekend (Friday) of the month.  The third weekend (Friday) of the month is the 19th, but I am betting that most kids get out of school that day.  If that is the case, then the holiday standard possession order provisions will begin at that time.

Your standard visitation Thursdays (Wednesdays in reeeeaaalllly old orders) this month are the 4th, 11th and 18th (or 3rd, 10th and 17th).

While there were not many weekend visits this month for the non-custodial parent, it their Christmas!  Hooray!  Christmas visitation will begin after school on the 19th under the standard possession order (assuming your child gets out on the 19th) and will end at noon on December 28th, or at noon on December 26th for older orders.  Be sure to check your order for which one applies to you.

Obviously the non-custodial parent will get the second half of Christmas this year (because they got Thanksgiving, right?).  That standard possession will end after the New Year when the children return to school.

This is a good time to remind everyone that I am only discussing the standard possession orders for Texas.  Many times parents will tweak or slightly modify their standard possession.  Always, always, always review YOUR possession order for the correct dates and times for pickup of the kiddos.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!
